James C. Best, Esq.
James C. Best received his J.D. degree from the
University of Miami. He is a member of the Florida Bar
and a former director of the Miami Chapter of the
Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Mr.
Best began his legal career as an assistant public
defender in Dade County where he became the training
attorney for the County Court Division, teaching all
incoming attorneys DUI trial tactics and techniques.
Mr. Best was a senior trial attorney at the nationally
known DUI defense firm of Essen & Essen, P.A. for two
years and founding partner of Best & Associates, P.A.
where the focus of the firms practice remained on DUI
defense in Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.
Mr. Best is a former speaker at Florida Bar sponsored
seminars including the Masters of DUI, and has served as
lead counsel in over 100 DUI jury trials.

Joseph P. Vredevelt, Esq.
Joseph P. Vredevelt received his J.D. degree from
Thomas M. Cooley Law School in East Lansing,
Michigan. He is a member of both the Florida and
Michigan State Bar Associations. Mr. Vredevelt has
served as a judicial extern for the Honorable David
H. Sawyer on the Michigan State Court of Appeals.
Mr. Vredevelt began his legal career by starting his
own law firm, Joseph P. Vredevelt, P.A., in Grand
Rapids, Michigan. He also held a position as legal
specialist at Disability Advocates of Kent County.
There he specialized in employment related
discrimination as defined under the Americans With
Disabilities Act.
Upon moving to Miami in 2007, Mr. Vredevelt
volunteered his services to the Miami-Dade Public
Defender's Office. Mr. Vredevelt is currently an
Associate Attorney at Best & Associates, P.A.
specializing in criminal DUI defense and Appellate
Advocacy.
